Service the Gas Burners (Furnace)

Pull and clean the burners plus the crossover/carryover ports, check burner alignment and a crisp blue flame (lazy/yellow flame = a problem), clear scale and spider/insect nests, reseat with no gas leaks, then verify ignition, carryover, and flame sense.

Before you start

  • Symptoms point to burner fouling: delayed ignition / rollout, lazy yellow flames, sooting, or poor flame sense — or it's routine maintenance.
  • Gas can be shut at the manual valve and power killed at the furnace switch; the model's burner-removal method is understood.
  • A combustion analyzer is available to confirm clean combustion after service.
